BRO. ERLE ARGONZA SPEAKS ON CHILD DIVINE IN GMA7 KAPUSO PROGRAM
Bro. Erle Frayne Argonza will speak this Saturday, 26 January, in the GMA 7’s Kapuso Program, hosted by Jessica Soho, at 9:00 p.m. The topic for this session is Child Divinity: the historic and cultural roots of Filipinos’ belief in the Child Divine specifically the Sto Nino, the merger of Eastern and Western cultural beliefs in this Filipino Sto Nino folk belief, and the process of cultural substitution of Infant Jesus to the Asiatic belief in the Child Divine particularly the Kumaras (refer to Vedic philosophy).
A subsidiary topic is the phenomenon of spiritist mediumistic practise of children being ‘possessed’ or used as medium for healing by the Sto Nino or divine beings. This practise will be explained within the context of a lack of mass access to health service, which brings folks to alternative and traditional healers including those who use methods of invocations and spiritist mediumism or mediumistic spiritism.
The interview was just concluded this afternoon inside the St. Peter’s parish church in Commonwealth, Quezon City. The wonderful interior architecture of the church immeasurably added ambience to the rather exotic topic at hand.
Bro. Erle Argonza carries along with him both the personalities of a sociologist and a mystic-expert on esoteric spirituality.
